Future City

Revolution's Beginning

I decide that I should just go up to the bar and talk to Rocket. As I approach, I can tell that he had been drinking for a while. Something wasn't right with him. He didn't look like he was from one of the most powerful families. He actually looked like he was from a lower district. This was probably his intentions since it seemed like he didn't want to be bothered."Hi. Your name is Rocket right?"\n\n"Yeah, what is it that you want?"\n\n"Nothing really, I recognized you and wondered why you were here?"\n\n"I could ask you the same Mezera. But seeing in how I don't care right now, why don't you just move along."\n\nI think it is best to move on. He obviously knows who I am and doesn't wish to talk. Before I leave, I slide a flyer down to him to see the next time he looks up from his folded arms. I decide to [[move on|Place of Comfort]] to another person.
The first thing that we decide to do is to make flyers to take and hand out to the people. We decide to make the flyer simple and plain so that it didn't draw attention to the government. If she was truly taken by them, they may track our movements and prevent us from actually finding her.\n\nAs I am passing the flyers out to the people of the city, I see a woman who I know I recognize. Where have I seen her. It was very odd recognizing her but knowing that I had no connections linking her to me. I decide to go ahead and hand her the missing person's flyer briefly catching her gaze. \n\nI walk away quickly thinking that it may have been a mistake. I could tell by her clothing that she was a reporter. Had I made a mistake? Will she write on this, and will the government get involved? I need to get back to the [[bar|Place of Comfort]].
I am really interested in seeing if this fortune teller can decipher my dreams. I can see that she is young, and I have never seen her before. Before I can even walk towards her, she raises her hand and waves me forward. \n\n"Hello Alec."\n\n"How do you...you must know my name from knowing who my family is."\n\n"No No. I am new to town. I just arrived this week. I've known for a while that I needed to be here to meet you today."\n\nI am confused automatically. She knew that she needed to be here today? To meet me?\n\n"You have questions about your dreams, Yes?"\n\nYeah I do, but what do you mean you...?\n\n"Let us talk about those dreams."\n\n"Well, they are not so much as dreams that I can recall, but recently I have been waking up with a sense of urgency like my dreams are pushing me to wake. Could you tell me what they mean?"\n\n"Alec, you know why they have been waking you. You know that something is coming. Your dreams are the future. That is why you recognize that young reporter there in the back. That is how I knew to meet you here today. It is through your dreams. Be careful though. If you wish to recall what your dreams tell you about the future, then you yourself could affect its outcome. Do you still want to know?"\n\nI don't know if I should allow her to [[tell|Knowing the Future]] me or to [[take|Ripple Upon Ripple]] her warning and leave.
"Excuse me, but do I know you?"\n\n"I'm not sure that we know each other, but you did hand me a flyer earlier today. My name is Charolette."\n\n"My name is Alec. Yeah that was me. I could of sworn that we knew each other some how."\n\n"Not that I know of. I am thinking though that I could help you get this missing person's information out there for you."\n\n"Could you please wait in doing that? It would mean a lot."\n\n"I guess that I could although I don't know why. I'm sorry but there is a woman waving to you from the front of the bar. She looks like she needs to talk to you."\n\nI look around and see that there is in fact a woman waving me over to talk to her. I don't know if I should [[continue talking|Stay and Talk]] to this reporter named Charolette or [[go|Woman in the Front]] talk to the woman in the front.
I am a student at West Virginia University currently taking ENGL 303 - Which has to do with transmedia writing. This story is about Alec Mezera, and his trail to revolution.
Lately, I have been waking from my dreams witha sense of urgency. I wake with my heart pounding and my mind racing. My dreams have always given me trouble, but now they seem to point to something that is going to occur and soon.\n\nMy name is Alec Mezera, and I was born into a rich and prideful family that lives in Manhatten, Post-New York. Both of my parents work in the government, and thier jobs are to make sure that the people from seperate districts stay where they are meant to be and to keep the rich from making severe mistakes that would cause them to lose their political hold on society. Personally, being a part of this family causes me great pain. Why would I want to be a member of a family that keeps the poor from advancing and the rich from falling?\n\nSitting in my room, I wonder what it is that my dreams are trying to tell me. I ponder for a while, but I know that nothing will come to mind. I need to get dressed and go to work before I am [[late|Urgency]].
I go up to the bar where Tim is serving people and where Rocket is sitting about four stools away.\n\n"Hey Alec. How did things go?"\n\n"They went pretty good. I haven't received any direct responses yet. Hey Tim. Do you know that woman back there in the corner?"\n\n"Yeah. She is some big time reporter for the paper. Why?"\n\n"I handed her a flyer and thought I recognized her. I also thought that it might have been bad to hand her the flyer."\n\n"Why? The more publicity the faster we may find her."\n\n"I know but we have to be careful and not attract anyone just in case the government is involved."\n\n"Ok, I guess your right."\n\nBefore I could reply a [[nosy|Look Who's Talking Now]] neighboring customer decided to add a few words to the conversation. Should I tell him to [[mind his own?|Mind Your Own]]
I made it back to the bar with no problems at all. Once I make it inside, I see that it is very busy and crowded with people from all ages. It is 5:30 p.m. I had taken off the day to hand out the flyer, but I really didn't want to go back home. \n\nI look around and see that we have a broad range of customers economically. At the bar, I see an individual who probably shouldn't be here. Who am I to say this though since I to come from a rich family. His name is Rocket. His parents stand at the top of the government. They are known for their ruthlesness. It looks like he is pretty down.\n\nBehind the counter is Tim. He decided that he would rather work than go home and think about his current problems. I can't blame him really.\n\nTowards the front there is a woman who claims she is a fortune teller. Maybe she can let me know what my dreams actually mean.\n\nFinally, I look to the very corner of the bar that is clear in the back. There sits the reporter that I handed the flyer out to earlier in the day. I don't know whether approaching her would make the situation worse or not. Maybe she won't remember me.\n[[Rocket|A Face From the Top]]\n\n[[Tim|How Did It Go?]]\n\n[[Reporter|Familiarity]]\n\n[[Fortune teller in the front|Could You Help Me?]]\n\n
"Hello. I believe that you have a question for me. I wish that you would have come and talk to me before you went and talked to Ms. Charolette. It would have been very beneficial to you. Oh well. You are [[here now|Could You Help Me?]]."
Walking to work, I look around and see that the streets are all but empty. It is 9 o'clock, but the rich will not be up and moving for another hour. The improvement of technology has taken away all the 'inconvinience' that morning brings. \n\nThe bar that I work at is closer to the border between the poor and the rich; between the districts. I have no need to work really. I wish to work to escape the constant banter that is exchanged among the rich that consists of nothing but control maintenance. \n\nOnce I get to work, I see that the bar has a few customers spread out across the tables. The bar remains open even during the morning; the depressed like to start early. As soon as I walk up to the bar, I know that something is wrong. Tim, the bar owner and my boss, looks to be confused and depressed. I ask him what is wrong and he replies by saying, "I don't know Alec. My ex hasn't contacted me for a while, and it is very unlike her. She had told me a while back that she had come across something strange about the government, but she didn't want to elaborate on the phone. She hasn't contacted me since. That was three days ago! Something's wrong."\n\n"What do you think has happened to her?"\n\n"I honestly think that the government has taken her to..."\n\n"Be quiet Tim! You know we can't talk about this right now."\n\n"I know, I know. I can't just sit and do nothing though."\n\n"Lets work slowly and try and figure this thing out and work it as if it were a normal missing case. Sound good?"\n\n"[[Sounds Good|Work In Progress]]."
